Course objective
C1 - introducing students into advanced scientific research
C2 - developing the skill of preparing scientific papers
C3 - developing the skill of criticizing other\'s views and defending one\'s own view
W1: good knowledge of logic and general methodology of sciences (BA level at least)
W2: good command of English
W3: at least passive knowledge of another foreign language
Learning outcomes
1. The student understands the variety of types of knowledge, their methodological specificity and mutual relations: K_W01, K_W02
2.The student has in-depth knowledge in the field determined by the topics of the seminar and the subject of a thesis: K_W03; K_W04; K_W05; K_W06
3. The student knows and understands advanced methods of analysis and interpretation of various forms of philosophical texts: K_W07

Course content description
1. Epistemic and ethical rules of reliable scientific research;
2. The structure of a scientific text
3. Truth as a philosophical and practical problem of research
4. Truth as a social issue
5. Topics determined by subject-matter of PhD work
Forms of assessment
1. Participation in activities (preparing a presentation, participation in discussions)
2. Demonstrating some progress in PhD research
