Course objective
C1. Extending the knowledge about genetic mechanisms, phenomenons, terms and terms. Presenting basic theoretical genetic.
C2. Presenting chosen techniques and human genetic disorders.
C3. Improving the ability for solving genetic tasks/problems.
Prerequisites
Finishing of the course „The Basis of Cytophysiology and Ontogenesis”
Learning outcomes
WIEDZA:

K_W01 - Zna i rozumie zjawiska, pojęcia i terminy genetyczne, i potrafi je zdefiniować. Potrafi wyjaśnić podstawowe modele teoretyczne stosowane w genetyce i omówić wybrane choroby genetyczne człowieka.

K_W07 - Ma podstawową wiedzę z zakresu genetyki i technik stosowanych w genetyce i ich praktycznego wykorzystania.

UMIEJĘTNOŚCI:

K_U01 - Stosuje wybrane podstawowe techniki i narzędzia badawcze
K_U07 - Uczy się samodzielnie w sposób ukierunkowany w zakresie obejmującym zagadnienia genetyki. Potrafi rozwiązywać wybrane typy zadań
genetycznych/problemów.

KOMPETENCJE SPOŁECZNE:

K_K01 - Rozumie potrzebę pogłębiania i aktualizacji wiedzy i umiejętności, jest otwarty na stosowanie nowych technik badawczych.
Teaching method
Lecture with audio-visual techniques
Course content description
Mendelian and non-Mendelian inheritance, population genetics, chromosomal basis of inheritance, mitosis and meiosis, genetic linkage, crossing-over, gene mapping, karyotype structure, mutations, genome size, mobile genome elements, chromatin structure and function, sex determination, role of the genetic processes in evolution.

KNOWLEDGE

2: Student does not know or understand cytogenetic phenomenons and terms and can define them. In general, does not possess basic knowledge on cytogenetics and on the cytogenetic methods.

3: Student has very brief, general and quite chaotic knowledge. He/she often wrongly defines terms. In general, He/she makes a lot of mistakes in logic and understanding the subject

4: Student possesses ordered knowledge In general, he-she makes proper interpretations with little mistakes.

5: Student possesses a very good knowledge In general, he/she does not make mistakes
